Getting motivated can be hard, but getting active doesn’t have to be. When a hectic lifestyle and busy workload consume us, staying physically active is often the first thing to go. Sometimes it just doesn’t feel like we have the time to squeeze physical activity into our daily routine. But, have you thought about the little changes you can make in your day so you can get more active while at work?

Like many Victorians you may spend most, if not all of, your working day sitting at a desk. But did you know that sitting for extending periods of time has been shown to be a major risk factor for Type 2 Diabetes and heart disease? http://bit.ly/23RCEjs

It’s time to make time and get more active at work. Here are five things you can start doing today to get moving at work.

1)    Make a conscious effort to walk over to see a colleague instead of emailing them. The further away they are in the building, the better!

2)    Set an email reminder/alarm to get yourself moving every couple of hours. Have a stretch, walk to get some water, stand up. Do whatever you need to do to take a break and shake it off!

3)    Booking a meeting room? Stop! Organise a walking meeting around the block instead - here at the Tigers we have a walking team meeting at least once a month. The walk and fresh-air are great for refreshing fuzzy heads & encourage inspiration and ideas!

4)    Walk to the local park to eat lunch rather than sitting at your desk.

5)    Many offices now offer standing desks, ask your employer to consider this if they haven’t already.
