Clever forward Sam Lloyd has joined an elite goalkicking group at Richmond in the early part of his AFL playing career.

With 21 goals in 12 appearances this season, Lloyd now has a combined total of 44 from his 32 league games.

There are only three players during the Tigers’ history over the past quarter-century, who have scored more goals than Lloyd in their first 32 games – Matthew Richardson (87 goals), Mitch Morton (66) and Nathan Brown (60).

Lloyd is ahead of the following current Richmond players with regards to number of goals at the 32-game mark – Jack Riewoldt (who had 32), Dustin Martin (27), Ty Vickery (23), Shane Edwards (23) and Brett Deledio (17) – as well as former Tigers such as Greg Stafford (43), Andrew Krakouer (33), Nick Daffy (31), Ben Holland (28), Matthew Rogers (28), Jay Schulz (25) and Brad Ottens (23).

At the halfway point of the 2016 season, Lloyd is second on Richmond’s goalkicking list, just six goals behind star key forward and winner of the Club’s leading goalkicker award, the Michael Roach Medal, for the past six years, Jack Riewoldt.

He has scored multiple goals on seven occasions this season, only once has failed to register a goal in a match (Round 6 v Port Adelaide), and is averaging 13.4 disposals, 4.2 marks and 3.2 tackles per game.
