Richmond VFL and development coach Craig McRae provides an exclusive summary of the AFL and VFL-listed players who featured in last Sunday's 16-point win over the Box Hill Hawks.

AFL-listed

Andrew Moore
28 disposals, two goals, nine clearances, six tackles

Continued his great form. It’s probably been six or seven weeks now that he’s been in the top three or four best players in our team. He had 28 disposals, nine clearances, six tackles and a couple of goals - including two in the last quarter when the game was on line. It was a great performance.

Jacob Townsend
28 disposals, one goal, eight clearances, eight tackles

Played more time in the midfield than in recent weeks. Another who, when the game was on the line, really wanted to step up. He had eight clearances, 11 inside 50s and a goal.

Bachar Houli
24 disposals, five clearances, six tackles

Played his first game coming back from injury and surgery. He played minimal time in the first quarter, came on late and then played out the remainder of the game. His last quarter was one that really set the scene for the team. It was a great day out for him.

Adam Marcon
21 disposals, seven tackles, three clearances, one goal

Played wing, midfield, forward, it was a great opportunity for him to explore and add flexibility to his game. He still impacted the game really well - kicked a nice goal late in the game - and he’s in great form.

Nathan Broad
20 disposals, six marks, four tackles

Returned from AFL opportunity, playing across half-back, and was really workmanlike. He used the ball really well, setting up a lot of attacking run off half-back. A good performance from Nathan.

Kane Lambert
17 disposals, six clearances, one goal

Only played a half and then was used as a carry-over in case of AFL opportunity or emergency. His 17 disposals in a half is a good return, 10 contested (possessions), six clearances and a goal. It was a shame we couldn’t have him in the second half as well.

Todd Elton
14 disposals, nine marks, one goal, three tackles

Played the best game I’ve seen him play - this year in particular. His marking was a real feature and in the last quarter he kicked a really critical goal. He was running on top of the ground and competing really strongly in the air. A good performance from him.

Dan Butler
13 disposals, three tackles, two marks

Had a solid performance. Didn’t have the impact of the previous game against Footscray, but still had great intensity. He showed up at the crumbing position and had the opportunity to kick goals, but unfortunately kicked two behinds. Certainly his foundations and his standards have lifted.

Ty Vickery
12 disposals, two goals, five marks, two tackles

He was really important. His first half was pretty quiet I thought, but then he played some important roles as a ruck and then in the last quarter he went forward and kicked two goals at critical times. I thought it was a good game from Ty.

Ivan Maric
24 hit-outs, two goals, 11 disposals

Ivan played a great game. Similar to Ty, in the first half he didn’t have much impact, but in the third quarter he kicked two critical goals at an important time. He certainly set the game up for us in the last quarter and went into the midfield and was dominant in the ruck.

Jake Batchelor
Eight disposals, four tackles

Workmanlike - only the eight disposals - but defended really well. Not many highs, but not many lows. It was a really solid game from him.

Callum Moore
Six disposals, three marks, four tackles

Had a bit of a quieter day. Worked hard, got to some good positions, but didn’t capitalise in the air. There won’t be a lot to learn from this game, but his running and competing was there for all to see.

Mabior Chol
Five disposals, four tackles

Only the five disposals, but I thought it was one of his best games defensively. He just had really big moments, one was a tackle in the last quarter which set up a goal, and another was going back and taking a critical mark. I think it was a huge step forward for “Marbs”. It shows that he’s coming along well as a defender for us.

Ivan Soldo
32 hit-outs, four disposals, three clearances

Minimal touches, but in the ruck he was really important. He showed that he can dominate around the ground in the hit-outs and was really important for us to stabilise, and in the end win, clearance on the day.

Ben Lennon
Two disposals, two contested possessions

Unfortunately was injured in the first quarter, rolling his ankle.

VFL-listed

Tom Couch
29 disposals, two goals, four clearances, three tackles

Returned for his first game in about eight weeks and was outstanding. He had 29 disposals, and two goals - one really critical one in the last quarter. He just imposed himself on the game. It was a great performance.

Nick Mellington
20 disposals, four tackles, 11 handball receives

Returned to good form. Had a disappointing game against Footscray and really good players don’t have two bad games in-a-row, and he proved that. He had 20 disposals, with hard running and good contested work from him.

Tom Langford
19 disposals, four marks, 14 uncontested possessions

Played across half-back. Uses the ball well, smart in traffic and was really important with his leadership.

Jacob Ballard
18 disposals, five marks, one goal

Was squeezed out of the midfield compared to recent weeks, but he went forward where his marking was a real highlight. He took five marks, including two really strong contested ones, and kicked a nice goal for us too. He’s a very important player for us.

Sam Darley
18 disposals, four marks, two tackles

Continued his good form. He’s a great ball user across half-back and also showed great leadership, similar to Tom Langford. He’s in good form.

James Fletcher
14 disposals, five tackles, four marks

Our 23rd player, he plays his role well. He needs to try and fight and struggle to get through tackles, that’s an area of improvement for him, but that will come as he gets bigger and stronger. Playing across the wing, his ball use and long running is important.

Ryan Gale
11 disposals, four marks

A key defender who continues to support young “Marbs” around him and others. A big pillar and post player down back for us.

Dan Coffield
Eight disposals, three marks, three tackles

Great role player; love having him in the team, he's hard to play against. In the last quarter his positioning was terrific. He rebounded really well for us.
