Richmond captain Trent Cotchin is thrilled the Tigers have given their large, loyal, passionate supporter base plenty to cheer about early in season 2017.

While Cotchin is fully aware the team still has a long way to go, he also understands how much enjoyment Yellow and Black barrackers have gained from the four wins in the opening four rounds.

“I think our fans have the right to be excited . . . it’s our best start in a little while,” Cotchin said ahead of the big Anzac Day Eve clash with Melbourne at the MCG on Monday.

“It’s a tough game being a player, it’s a tough game being a supporter that has been starved of success for a long period of time, and haven’t had quite the start that we have this year.

“We owe it to them to enjoy it.

“That’s what we’re looking forward to about Monday night . . . two proud clubs that are going into battle on a special night, where we remember current-serving soldiers, and the past as well.”
