Richmond captain Trent Cotchin stood out like a beacon for the Tigers amid the gloom at Adelaide Oval last evening.

Cotchin never stopped trying to lift his team, regardless of Adelaide’s dominance after quarter-time.

He finished the match with a team-high 26 disposals, including a team-high 16 contested possessions, six clearances, six inside-50s, plus a game-high 11 tackles, game-high 33 pressure acts, and a team-high 502 metres gained.

Those 11 tackles took Cotchin’s tackle total this season to 39, which is clearly No. 1 for this category among the Tigers’ playing group, and equal No. 15th overall in the competition.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick singled Cotchin out for praise in his post-game press conference.

“I was happy with the skipper, who battled on . . . the way he put his head down and tried to instil some confidence in the side,” Hardwick said.
