Emerging Richmond pair Kane Lambert and Dan Butler have signed two-year contract extensions.

Lambert, 25, and Butler, 21, will remain at Tigerland until at least the end of 2019.

A tough midfielder, Lambert joined Richmond with pick No. 46 in the 2015 Rookie Draft and was elevated to the Club’s primary list the following year.

The mature-age recruit has played 48 senior matches in three years, including 20 AFL games in 2017.

Butler has experienced a breakout season this year, kicking 24 goals across 19 senior matches and receiving a Rising Star nomination.

The small forward was the Tigers fourth round selection, No. 67 overall, in the 2014 National Draft.

Richmond general manager – football talent, Dan Richardson, said Lambert and Butler were great assets to the football club.

“Both Kane and Dan have experienced great seasons in 2017 and we are pleased they have committed to the Club for at least the next two years,” Richardson.

“Kane’s story is quite remarkable – he has worked his way up the VFL ranks, to the Rookie Draft and now playing consistent AFL football.

“Dan has also shown great perseverance and after making his debut in Round 1 – he has played 19 senior games this year.

“They have both taken big steps forward this season and we look forward watching their development over the next two years.”
