As we tick over into 2018, here’s a list of the key anniversaries and milestones at Tigerland this year. . .

Anniversaries

  • 110 years since Richmond’s first season in the VFL competition.
  • 90 years since the Tigers’ inaugural Brownlow Medallist Stan Judkins (in 1930) made his senior league debut.
  • 80 years since Richmond’s Team of the Century centre half-back Gordon Strang debuted with the Tigers.
  • 70 years since champion ruckman Bill Morris became Richmond’s second Brownlow Medallist.
  • 60 years since 1967 premiership captain Fred Swift made his first senior appearance with the Tigers.
  • 50 years since dual Richmond premiership player and subsequent multi-media megastar Rex Hunt debuted.
  • 50 years since five-time Tiger premiership hero Kevin Bartlett won the second of his five Jack Dyer Medals.
  • 40 years since champion rover Dale Weightman made his senior league debut with the Tigers.

  • 30 years since Yellow and Black cult hero and 1980 premiership player Jimmy Jess retired from league football.
  • 30 years since star Tiger midfielder Matthew Knights debuted.
  • 25 years since Richmond goalkicking great Matthew Richardson made his senior league debut.
  • 25 years since popular, tough, courageous Tiger Duncan Kellaway played his first senior league game.
