Richmond will create league football history if it can attract a crowd of 90,000 or more to Thursday night’s blockbuster 2018 season-opener against Carlton at the MCG.

Should that occur, it would be the fourth consecutive match the Tigers have had an attendance figure topping 90,000 – something never before achieved in the AFL/VFL competition.

Six clubs have completed the 90,000-plus crowd hat-trick, with Richmond and St Kilda doing so twice.

The Tigers initially accomplished the impressive attendance feat in the 1969 finals series, and they did it again during last year’s successful September campaign.
