James Trezise, Samson Ryan, Tyler Sonsie

Richmond has today informed players Tyler Sonsie, James Trezise and Samson Ryan that they will not be offered list spots for the 2027 AFL season.

Sonsie played 55 games for Richmond over five seasons after being selected with Richmond’s third pick, No. 28 overall, in the 2021 AFL Draft.

The midfielder/forward debuted in Round 18 of his first season and held his spot through to the elimination final that year.

Sonsie played 15 matches in 2026, averaging 16 disposals.

Trezise was elevated to the Club’s AFL list as a mid-season draftee in 2023, having impressed in the VFL program in the first half of the season.

The 24-year-old played 38 games for the Club over four seasons, including 30 in the past two. He also averaged 16 disposals in 2026.

Ryan played 31 AFL games for Richmond over six years, booting 17 goals. The 25-year-old Queenslander was selected with pick No. 40 overall at the 2020 AFL Draft.

He played 14 matches in 2023 but was unable to play over eight games in any of his other six seasons.

Richmond Executive General Manager, Football Talent, Blair Hartley thanked the three players for their contribution to Richmond.

“Each gave their all across multiple years with us, and we wish them well for their future pursuits on and off the field.”
