Richmond’s mature-age midfield recruit Kane Lambert is continuing to make significant gains in his debut season of AFL football.

Lambert, 23, was one of the best afield in the Tigers’ 83-point win against Gold Coast at the MCG yesterday, finishing with a league career-high 27 disposals, including two goals, in just his ninth appearance at the game’s highest level.

“I thought he was very clean,” Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said in his post-match press conference.

“His ability to find the ball, then use it, was a real positive for us.

“He works incredibly hard.

“We all know his story.  He’s taken a little bit of time to get here, but he doesn’t look out of place.

“It’s a real credit to him.

“The upside for us is he’s still got some areas of improvement that will take him to a new level as a player.

“He’s earned his place.”

The quietly spoken, but fiercely determined Lambert, was maintaining his typically low-key approach after the game.

“I’m just trying to progress my footy each week and become more comfortable at the level,” Lambert told ‘Roar Vision’.

“To hit the scoreboard was pretty nice as well.

“I suppose being a little bit older, they expect me to come in and have an impact.

“I’m loving playing AFL footy, and hopefully I’ve got a few more games in me . . .”
