There was a rarity for Richmond in last Thursday night’s Round 1 match against Carlton at the MCG.

It was only the 21st time since the 2020 Grand Final triumph over Geelong that superstar Tiger pair Dustin Martin and Tom Lynch had played together out of a possible 70 games.

In those other 49 games, at least one of them had been sidelined due to injury or illness.

They played together 12 times in 2021, five times in 2022, three times last year and once so far this season.

Martin and Lynch were valuable contributors for Richmond in its narrow Round 1 loss to the Blues.

Martin had 16 disposals, took four marks, kicked two goals and had six score involvements, while Lynch had 10 disposals, took four marks, booted two goals and had six score involvements.
