Richmond has added five players to its extended squad for its Easter Sunday clash with Sydney at the MCG.

Nathan Broad and Tylar Young, who missed Round 2 due to calf soreness and concussion protocols respectively, are on track to return, as is Maurice Rioli, who was a late out last Sunday against Port Adelaide with back soreness.

Experience ruckm Sam Naismith is a chance to return against his old side for his second senior outing as a Tiger, after collecting 24 disposals, 31 hit-outs and one goal in the VFL Tiger's Round 1 win on the road.

"He was fantastic in the ruck, he kicked one of the better goals that you'll see from a ruckman," VFL coach Steve Morris said.

"He had a game-high nine clearances and was a standout on the day."

Young midfielder/forward Tyler Sonsie, 21, could be recalled for his first AFL match of the season, which would add to his 10 career games.

The 21-year-old was an important contributer in the VFL win over the reigning premier, racking up 30 disposals, seven marks, six inside-50s and one goal.

"(He) found a lot of the ball," Morris said.

"It's great to see him back into footy and finding the ball with ease straight away."

Coming out of the side is last week's activated substitute Judson Clarke, who has been omitted, and James Trezise, who suffered an ankle injury in the clash.

Richmond will confirm its final Round 3 team on Friday night at 5.00pm AEDT.

The Club will then name its substitute 60 minutes prior to the first bounce on Sunday. 

Sunday's game will be broadcast live on FOX FOOTY and Kayo Sports.
