Hey everyone! Hope all are having a great Easter long weekend. I'm back for another year of blogging and excited to see how our boys go this year and to share some of the highs and lows with you all.

I have finally been witness to a Round 1 victory by the Tigers. We have finally beaten the Blues after nine straight defeats. We have all sung the song at the beautiful MCG on a fine autumn evening in March and it is a sweet, sweet feeling.

We started off a bit slowly and missed our opportunities and I thought we might come to regret those misses. But Vickery was looking good, leading strongly and marking well. Deledio looked dangerous and Jack was taking Jamieson away from where he is comfortable playing freeing up the forward line. The backline looked solid and Chaplin's presence seems to have given the players and supporters alike a new confidence. He is solid and he doesn't panic and that is going to help down back. I imagine he will get better as he settles in and plays a few more matches. I thought Batchelor had a great game and hopefully this will be a big year for his development as a defender.

The second quarter was one of the most enjoyable quarters of football I can remember watching. Boy those Carlton fans went very quiet all of a sudden. We seemed to be getting shots on goal from every direction. The lead was building up nicely. How beautiful was Dusty's snap from the boundary line? Magic!

I think we all knew Carlton would hit back after half time. What was Malthouse telling them, I wondered. Nothing too inspiring I hoped. Well the third quarter was a bit of a shoot out but we held our own and since we had the lead it was a good outcome for us. At three quarter time we were looking good and the fans could smell a much anticipated Tiger victory.

But then… the final quarter.  Well, I guess we should have known that as fans we would have to be put through the wringer a few more times. My heart was pounding and I could hardly bear to watch as our lead was whittled away to less than a goal. It couldn't happen, could it? Thankfully the footy gods are finally smiling on us after last year. Yarran missed twice and we snatched the victory we so deserved with a lovely tackle from McGuane and slowly executed kick that saw the quarter end with a another point to us and no time left on the clock. What an excruciating game to watch when you want the team to win so badly you can taste it. Please Richmond let's try to hold on to our big leads in future games because the fans hearts can only take so much.

Still Victory is sweet and victory over Carlton sweeter than most.

Next week we have Saints on Friday night at the 'G which will be another big match. We had a great win over them last year and I hope we can replicate that win but perhaps keep the margin slightly bigger as I don't know if I can take another close match.

Hope to see you all at the ‘G, go Tiges! Meg.
