Increased stamina has been a key focus for Richmond star Dustin Martin throughout this pre-season.

Martin, who it was announced yesterday (Tuesday) has signed a two-year contract extension with the Tigers, is diligently working on his endurance in a bid to spend even more time in the midfield in 2015.

“Obviously you try and improve all over the place, but I’m just trying to get that ‘engine’ up to another level,” he told ‘Roar Vision’.

“I’d probably like to be majority midfield, and then be able to go forward and do a bit of damage, hopefully.”

Martin was a standout with both his midfield work and exceptional exploits in one-on-one contests deep forward last season. He earned an awesome reputation as the best one-on-one player in the competition and capped off a fine overall season with third placing in Richmond’s Best and Fairest award.

“It was obviously good to have another consistent year . . . I enjoyed it,” Martin said.

“Obviously it’s always good to go forward and kick a few goals, but I also love playing through the midfield. It was good to play a bit of both.”

Martin’s primary goals for season 2015 are simple . . .

“I want the side to win and get off to a good start and, just personally, play my role, whatever that is.”
