Star Richmond forward Jack Riewoldt has strongly endorsed Trent Cotchin’s captaincy of the Club.

A recent media article floated the idea of Riewoldt replacing Cotchin as the Tigers’ skipper.

Riewoldt, however, has backed in the current set-up of Richmond leaders.

“Our leadership group is second to none, in my opinion.  The way we’re led by our captain Trent Cotchin, and his supporters in the actual leadership group, is very strong for us,” Riewoldt said on SEN.

“I fully support Trent . . . I think he’s going to be a fantastic captain going forward.

“He’s growing into the position with every day that he sits in it.

“As the group grows, we’ve got plenty more leaders around our football club that are really starting to emerge.

“I think Alex Rance is another guy that’s really putting his hand up to lead our football club.

“But, certainly, Trent’s the one that we’re all following, and I’m certainly looking forward to following in his footsteps again next year.

“In my eyes, Trent’s the best person to captain our football club.”
