Richmond's VFL side will open a new chapter this weekend.

The VFL Tigers will play their first twilight match after new light towers were installed at Punt Road Oval over the course of last year.

Richmond's VFL side will host Sandringham on Saturday in a curtain-raiser to the AFL team’s match against Port Adelaide at the MCG.

Mature-age recruit Jacob Townsend could add the spark Richmond’s VFL side needs to return to the winners’ list this weekend.

Townsend was omitted from the Tigers senior side but the ferocious tackler and ball-winner will bolster the Club’s VFL midfield stocks for its Round 4 clash against the Zebras.

Tigers tall-forward Ben Griffiths will again look to push for AFL selection following a strong performance against Frankston last week, while Mabior Chol will set out to improve on his stellar four-goal haul against the Dolphins.

Richmond’s VFL side suffered a 13-point loss in Round 3 and sits eighth on the ladder, following one win and two unsuccessful outings.

Sandringham is ranked ninth after one win, one loss and a bye.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 4.30pm, with gates opening at 3:30pm
