Talented Tiger teenager Connor Menadue has expressed his delight at having signed a two-year contract extension with the Club.

Menadue, who was Richmond’s second pick (No. 33 overall) in the AFL’s 2014 National Draft, is now committed to the Tigers until at least the end of the 2018 season.

“I was very excited (to re-sign with the Club) . . . happy to be staying and looking forward to the next two years,” Menadue told ‘Roar Vision’.

The speedy, versatile 19-year-old has made significant strides in his overall football development this season, playing 11 games at senior level and averaging 13.7 disposals per match, with an AFL career-high 19 touches against Brisbane at the MCG in Round 14.

“I’ve played a few more games, which has been nice . . . (I’ve) been a bit more comfortable up in the AFL team,” he said.

“I think my progression’s coming along pretty nicely, but I’ve still got areas I need to work on . . .

“I’m trying to work on my inside game and tackling.  That’s my biggest focus area.

“I’m also working on my strengths and trying to develop them . . . trying to get them as elite as possible . . .

“While my body starts to develop and get big, I’ll probably still be on the wing/half-back/half-forward.  And then, hopefully, eventually, I can put on that size and go on-ball for a bit, which would be good,” he said.

“It’s going to be gradual (putting on size), but hopefully each year a few more kilos – three to five every year – until maybe (reaching) between 85-90 (kilos), I reckon.”
