Richmond has recalled two premiership players into its squad for Sunday’s big Round 3 clash with Hawthorn at the MCG.

Quality small defender Nick Vlastuin, who missed last Thursday night’s loss to Adelaide at Adelaide Oval because of delayed concussion has been named, along with gun midfielder Dion Prestia, who has recovered from a hamstring injury that kept him out of the first two games at senior level this season.

The Tigers have already announced that their first pick in last year’s national draft, talented, hard-working, small forward/midfielder Jack Higgins will make his AFL debut on Sunday, and they may have another debutant, with young, tall defender Ryan Garthwaite also included in the 26-man squad.

Garthwaite, 19, was Richmond’s third selection in the 2016 national draft and he’s made solid progress at VFL level to now be pressing hard for a senior berth.

Two other Tiger cubs – dashing defender Connor Menadue and athletic tall utility Mabior Chol – have been brought into the squad, as has experienced forward/midfielder Sam Lloyd.

Out of the team beaten by the Crows in Round 2 are Josh Caddy, who is serving a one-match suspension and young pair Shai Bolton and Corey Ellis, who have both been omitted.
