Richmond has suffered a 68-point defeat at the hands of West Coast on Friday night, with the Eagles comprehensively out playing the Tigers, especially in the first half.

A Kane Lambert goal two minutes into the contest masked what was to become a dirty night, with the visitors penned in to the defensive half from that moment on for the majority of the first two quarters.

As Richmond struggled to work the ball out of defence under immense pressure, West Coast peppered the goals with 23 scoring shots and nine individual goalkickers in a dominant opening half display.

The Tigers could only muster six forward-50 possessions and eight inside 50s in reply over the same timeframe, adding three goals from stoppages via Lambert, Daniel Rioli and Sam Lloyd.

After the main break, the Tigers gave a better account of themselves around the ground, but the Eagles had all the answers on the scoreboard, as they won every quarter, finishing with six multiple goal scorers led by Jack Darling with four.

Alex Rance fought bravely in defence against Josh Kennedy, winning the majority of the one-on-one battles and collecting 26 disposals and 11 marks himself. Jack Riewoldt played a lone hand up forward kicking four goals from limited opportunities.

The Tigers struggles were compounded with an injury to Shaun Hampson. He came into the game as the main ruckman for the Tigers after Ivan Maric needed more game-time in the VFL. Hampson copped a heavy cork to his left thigh and struggled to move in the second term before sitting out the second half.

At the beginning of the final term, defender David Astbury needed to be carried from the ground by the trainers after appearing to roll his ankle.

Richmond are next up against Melbourne at the MCG on Anzac Day eve.
