Star Richmond key defender Alex Rance doesn’t subscribe to the view expressed by some football critics that the Tigers’ playing list is in need of a radical overhaul at season’s end.

With Richmond in 14th place on the league ladder at the midway mark of season 2016, having won just four games, there has been an external push for the Club to trade out one of their star players and invest heavily in young talent via the National Draft.

Rance, however, has expressed his confidence in the Tigers’ list management.

“We’ve got some good, young talent coming through . . . And, we’ve got some strong middle-tier players, who have been pretty unlucky with injury that we, I think, could get a lot more out of,” Rance said.

“Dave Astbury could become a really good player for us . . . he’s still only 24.  Dylan Grimes is still working through his hamstring issues.  Kamdyn McIntosh, Nick Vlastuin . . . those types of players. We’re really going to see a lot of value in the next couple of years coming through those guys.

“So, I think it’s a little bit drastic to say that we’re going to have to completely reset and go back to the draft table.”
