Richmond midfielder Anthony Miles was impressed with the AFL debut of the Tigers’ first pick in last year’s National Draft, Corey Ellis, against Geelong at the MCG last Saturday.

Ellis finished with 13 disposals, scored a goal, narrowly missed another with his first kick in league football, and didn’t look out of place at the game’s highest level.

“He’s very composed.  I thought he was pretty good and he’s only going to be better for the run,” Miles said on ‘The Richmond Review’.

“He missed a couple of shots on goal early, which was probably just nerves . . .

“He’s going to kick those (in the future), and he’s going to be a very good player for a long time.”

Miles also praised the hard-running performance against the Cats of Richmond’s rebounding defender Bachar Houli, who had a game-high 33 disposals and a game-high nine tackles.

“Bachar’s very under-rated, I think, in the AFL world, but we certainly hold him in high regard within our four walls,” Miles said.

“He’s a fantastic player, and a fantastic guy to have around the Club, and he was good again today (last Saturday).”
