Richmond has strongly endorsed its fixture for the 2016 AFL season, which was released today.

“We think this is a great fixture for both our fans and our commercial partners,” said the Club’s CEO Brendon Gale.

“A similar fixture last season saw us number one in the competition for home-and-away crowds, so we expect it will again be embraced by our members and supporters.

“From a commercial perspective, one Thursday night, six Friday nights and seven Saturday nights are significant television time-slots, and that will provide fantastic exposure for our commercial partners.

“In terms of specifics, we have worked hard to develop the season-opener against Carlton as a marquee event, and we are pleased that has again been supported.

Richmond 2016 fixture analysis

“Given the success of our inaugural Anzac Eve match against Melbourne last season, it was important we had the opportunity to work with Melbourne to further embed it as an annual game, and we have been given that opportunity.

“Dreamtime at the ‘G will again be the centrepiece of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round, and we look forward to further building that event with Essendon.

“We also look forward to playing GWS in Canberra.  It will be the first time the Club has ever played for premiership points there and we have a very loyal supporter base in the region.”
