Richmond is not concerned about a letdown following the bye last weekend, as the Tigers aim for their fifth straight win when they play West Coast this Friday night at the MCG.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick told the media on Thursday that the Tigers have trained strongly over the past week.

The Eagles are yet to have their bye, and will play their third game in 12 days on Friday night, which included a trip to Hobart two weeks ago.

Hardwick said his side wouldn't rely on a lethargic opposition to grab the four points.

"We played back-to-back six day breaks before we went to Fremantle so I think it's a bit of furphy, really," he said.

"Our guys are mentally fresh, this time of year all sides are battling injury and soreness.

"All we can do is put our players on the park and ask them to provide the best contest possible, and play with intensity and great effort."

The Tigers are expecting a fierce contest at the MCG, against one of the in-form sides in the competition.

The Eagles have lost just one game since Round 3, and sit third on the AFL ladder.

“West Coast are in some terrific form.  They’re playing some really good footy under Adam (Simpson) and their leadership group,” Hardwick said.

“Their forward line is functioning as well as anyone’s at the moment.  They’re very dangerous…all of those six players are incredibly active inside 50.

“Defensively we’re pretty happy with the way our guys are going, but that’s going to be an enormous challenge for us.

“One thing we do know is that every time they’ve won contested ball, they’ve won the game.

“It’s going to be an arm wrestle.  We’re prepared for that, and we’re looking forward to that.”
