Richmond star Brett Deledio has delivered high praise for two of Richmond’s developing midfielders, Dustin Martin and Anthony Miles.

Martin is having one of his best seasons in Yellow and Black colours, while Miles has made an immediate impact at AFL level since breaking into the team in Round 12.

Deledio has enjoyed a close-up view of the pair’s impact on the Tigers in 2014, and has been particularly impressed with the way Miles has burst onto the scene.

“His biggest attribute is he knows how to find the footy, and he’s tough.  He’s never lost that, and he continues to rack ‘em up and find plenty of the ball,” he told Richmond’s weekly podcast, Talking Tigers.

“He’s in-and-under, feeding it out, and he’s unreal at drawing that high free kick.

“He’s reaping the benefits of putting in five or six really good weeks at Richmond reserves, and coming out and performing well in the seniors.”

Deledio believes Martin has stepped up his performance again, following his second placing in the 2013 Jack Dyer Medal and another outstanding pre-season.

“I thought he played some pretty good footy last year, but he’s taken it to another level,” Deledio said.

“He’s averaging 25-plus touches, and he’s kicked something like 20 goals.

“Myself and him probably play across that half forward line, and work up the ground and work back.

“He’s reaping the rewards of a really hard pre-season that he put in, and being able to run out games really helps him.”
