Creative Richmond small forward/midfielder Shane Edwards has moved into ninth place in the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award after polling five votes for his top-class display in the Tigers’ Round 4 loss to Melbourne at the MCG.

Edwards received the second most votes in the match from respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Paul Roos (Melbourne) following a performance that netted him 24 disposals, including 16 contested possessions, seven clearances, six inside-50s, five tackles and two goals.

The 26-year-old veteran of 155 league games with Richmond has taken his overall votes’ tally in the AFLCA 2015 Player of the Year award to 17, in just three appearances this season (he missed the Round 2 match against the Western Bulldogs due to a calf injury).

Richmond’s only other vote-getter in the 32-point loss to the Demons was ruckman Ivan Maric, who worked tirelessly throughout the contest, finishing with 14 disposals, including 10 contested possessions, seven tackles, six clearances and 34 hit-outs.
