Brett Deledio’s return to the Richmond midfield this season, on a permanent basis, has been a resounding success.

After 19 rounds (18 games), Deledio is averaging a career-high 28 disposals per game.
Only once this season has he not managed 20 disposals or more in a match (Round 11 v Fremantle at the MCG).

The dual Jack Dyer Medallist is No. 1 in the competition for inside-50 entries, with 105, including an equal game-high nine in the Tigers’ 48-point victory over Brisbane at the Gabba last Saturday night.

Deledio received the maximum 10 votes in the prestigious AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year Award for his superb 33-disposal (23 kicks, 10 handballs, plus six marks and a goal) performance against the Lions.

Hard-running Tiger ‘ball magnet’, Shaun Grigg received the six votes in that game, with ruckman Ivan Maric getting five votes and Reece Conca and Trent Cotchin being awarded three votes apiece (along with Brisbane captain Jonathan Brown).

Cotchin is the award’s leading vote-getter with four rounds to go.  He has a total of 83 votes, which is one ahead of Essendon captain Jobe Watson.
