Richmond hasn’t given up hope of securing the services of Greater Western Sydney young gun midfielder Adam Treloar.

Although Treloar, who is out of contract at GWS, has nominated Collingwood as his club of destination, the Tigers, having also vigorously pursued him, remain on standby, ready to step in and negotiate a trade if an opportunity presents.

“We’re still interested in Adam, and made no secrets about our intention to try and get Adam across,” Richmond’s General Manager of Football Dan Richardson told ‘AFL Trade Radio’.

Tigers right in the hunt for Yarran

“He made a decision to go to Collingwood, or Collingwood as his preferred option, based on obviously a long-term relationship with Nathan Buckley through the AIS, and we respect that.

“There’s a chance that things change.  I think it’s unlikely, but certainly GWS and Adam’s management are well aware of our interest if something was to change.

“To be honest, I’d expect that to get done with Collingwood, as long as Adam holds true to his word, which is his desire to go there.”

Richardson confirmed that Richmond had presented a strong case to Treloar for a potential move to Tigerland.

“We certainly knew that we were well in the mix,” Richardson said.

“I think it was a really difficult decision for him . . . that’s what we understand it to be.

“Certainly, we feel as though we put our best foot forward . . .

“Players have to make a decision with these things.  Unfortunately for us, he chose Collingwood.

“We think it’s mostly because of that long-term relationship with ‘Bucks’, and that’s fair enough.

“So, life goes on.”

Meanwhile, Richardson provided an insight into the Club dropping out of the race for former Gold Coast midfielder Harley Bennell.

"We flew him over from Perth to find out a little bit more about him and where he’s at, and we don't feel he gave that process a great deal of respect,” he said.

Tigers positive about Lennon

"He's now a Fremantle player.  Maybe that's the way it was going all along, which is the reason why it transpired with us the way that it did.

"He's obviously a very talented young player.  I don't want to be disrespectful.

"(The Dockers) are a strong club and I'm sure they're as good a chance as anyone to turning his life around and getting the most out of his footy.

"It just wasn't meant to be with us."
