Claremont youngster Ryan Lim will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of 10 current Richmond players who have been drafted after graduating from the AIS-AFL Academy squad.

Lim, 17, is one of a number of draft prospects spending this week at AFL Clubs, in an important step in their under-18 seasons.

The players, who are eligible for this year's AFL Draft, will get a taste of life as a professional player through the week, participating in trainings, recovery and team meetings.

While the experience is valuable for players, it is also seen as another chance for recruiters to gauge how the players handle AFL demands, interact with others, and understand the club's program.

Early last year, Richmond hosted Ben Lennon, who was the Club’s first pick in the 2013 National Draft.

Trent Cotchin, Ben Griffiths, and Liam McBean are also former members of the AIS-AFL Academy squad who trained at the ME Bank Centre and were later added to the Tigers’ playing list.

Six other Richmond players – Brett Deledio, Troy Chaplin, Shaun Grigg, Ty Vickery, Todd Elton and Nick Vlastuin – are former AIS-AFL Academy squad members.

Lim is a 186cm, 75kg hard-running midfielder who was a standout performer in Claremont Colts’ premiership-winning 2013 team, picking up 18 disposals and being among the Club’s best players.

He also represented Western Australia in the 2013 U18 National Championships as a bottom-aged player.
