Matthew Richardson gives Tiger fans an update on his AFL Fantasy teams and Superboot selections after Round 17.

AFL Fantasy

Who did we all go with in place of Gary Ablett this week?

I stuck to my word and brought in Brandon Ellis. He got a very respectable 94 – not quite near Gaz’s heights, but still okay.  In fact, ‘okay’ sums up my week in Round 17 – I racked up a lot of 80s, 90s, and just six scores over 100, for a total score of 2027 points.

My team lacked a bit of leadership this week, with both of my usual captains (Ablett and Tom Rockliff) sitting this one out. Tom will be welcomed back with open arms for the upcoming split round, with the Lions facing off against the Gold Coast.  He has an excellent average (112) against the Suns, so here’s hoping he continues that form.

Asif and his team ‘Nonproductive’ cannot be stopped in the Richmond fan league! He is 200 points clear of Stephen and ‘Massive Scorgasm’ in second place.  Stephen also took the weekly honours with the league-high score of 2343.

Good luck for the split rounds – remember your lockout details. See you after Round 18.

Superboot

I was a bit disappointed with my Superboot score this week, but looks like everyone else had a tough week as well, because I’ve jumped up a spot in the rankings! That was a nice surprise when I sat down to check my Superboot.

I only managed two goals this week, courtesy of young Josh Green at the Brisbane Lions. The last time I only scored two goals, I absolutely plummeted in the rankings.

My theory is that everyone has used up their turns with ‘Buddy’ Franklin, Josh Kennedy, Jay Schulz, Tom Hawkins and co, and are now having to choose more speculative players. I like it – it will make things much more interesting in the back end of the season.

S. Springer has held onto his lead, but out of nowhere, A. Baxter is hot on his heels, just one goal behind. The race at the top is looking very tight.
