The Richmond Football Club is pleased to announce that with support from its members and supporters, it has fundraised $80,000 in 2014 for its preferred charity partner, The Alannah and Madeline Foundation.

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale, who made the announcement at the charity’s annual fundraising gala ball, Starry Starry Night, last month, said the donation was a collective effort from members, supporters, staff and players.

"We are committed to providing genuine support and, as I have said previously, I can think of no more worthy cause than one which aims to protect our children from violence and bullying," Gale said.

"Since partnering with The Alannah and Madeline Foundation in 2012, we have seen first-hand the fantastic work they do. Our stated ambition is to build the best sports charity partnership in Australia.

“This donation is a part of that, as are the many awareness-raising activities we undertake."

Dr Judith Slocombe, CEO of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, said the partnership with Richmond continues to grow from strength to strength.

"We are very proud of our partnership with the Richmond Football Club," she said.

"The Club is genuinely committed to making a difference in the lives of children affected by violence and bullying, and has been instrumental in helping us to raise these vital funds and awareness about our work."

The $80,000 donation has been raised in 2014 from a number of initiatives, including:

- Proceeds from Richmond’s practice match against Essendon at the ME Bank Centre in March.
- Proceeds from the Club's new ‘The Alannah and Madeline Foundation membership’.
- Richmond’s dedicated match-day for the ‘Stand Up for Our Kids’ campaign in Round 16.
- 5% of net profits from the Tigerland Superstore.

“Our members, fans, players and staff have driven this result, and I would like to thank them all," Gale said.

"It's a collective effort from our Club, and we know it will help keep young people safe from violence and bullying."
