Ty Vickery produced arguably his best performance of the season against St Kilda on the weekend – and it was enough to secure the 2013 Ian Stewart Medal.

Vickery was dominant as a key forward and ruckman in the Tigers’ 64-point win against the Saints, collecting 18 disposals, taking 11 marks, kicking a goal and winning 16 hitouts.

The medal, awarded once per season, was developed in order to recognise Stewart, the only player in league football history to win Brownlow medals and premierships at two separate Clubs.

Stewart is one of 25 legends in the Australian Football Hall of Fame, and was recently inducted into Richmond’s Hall of Fame.

Media commentators from the Herald Sun, The Age, Fox Footy, SEN and ABC voted on who they believe were the best three players on the ground.

Vickery received seven votes, Trent Cotchin received six, and Daniel Jackson and Aaron Edwards each received five.
