Key defender Alex Rance wants his teammates to come out of their ‘shells’, to help Richmond take the all-important next step in its quest for sustained success.

Rance, a renowned extrovert, believes it’s time for the Tigers to be more outspoken with each other on the field.

“It definitely feels like there’s more leadership down here, but for us to get to the elite team that we want to be, it’s something we’ve really got to improve on,” Rance said.

“I think we’re a quiet team at the moment, and we’re not demanding enough of each other.

“Off-field, I think we’re going well.  We demand a lot in the gym and our values are very, very strong.

“But I think we really need to be more demanding of each other with our actions on-field.

“That’s the one thing you notice with the Geelongs and Sydneys, who have had their time in the sun for a long period now.

“They do it on a consistent basis, so that’s where we aim to be.”
