Richmond defensive duo Troy Chaplin and David Astbury will be monitored through the week as they bid to prove their fitness for Round 14.

Chaplin (knee) and Astbury (hamstring) both failed to complete last Saturday's match against the Western Bulldogs.

Chaplin twisted his knee during the fourth quarter and was helped from the field, but scans today revealed no significant damage.

The in-form defender will be monitored during the week, ahead of the Tigers' twilight game against St Kilda this Sunday.

Astbury will also face a fitness test this week, after scans revealed a minor hamstring strain.

The 22-year-old was playing his second game for the season when he left the field in the third quarter.

Richmond defenders Jake Batchelor, Matt Dea and Ricky Petterd all made returns from injury in the VFL today.
