Hard-running Richmond midfielder Shaun Grigg has spent a couple of days in Cairns during the bye week, promoting the Tigers’ home game against the Gold Coast Suns at Cazalys Stadium on July 14.

Grigg and his partner, Sarah, visited local tourist attractions to film a short video clip to promote the Club’s win-a-trip-to-Cairns competition for the Round 16 clash.

Richmond lost its inaugural match against the Suns last season, but Grigg is hoping the Tiger Army will turn out in force at Cazalys Stadium this year to help turn the tables.
“I think we are third in the league for attendances.  There are a lot of Tigers supporters out there,” Grigg said.

“Last year, we saw them sitting up here in their shorts and singlets and thongs, and really getting hold of the weather.

“The Tigers Army are unbelievable, week in, week out. “There’s that many of them, and we love putting on a great show for them . . .

“Cairns is a great place to play AFL matches.  Cazalys is a great venue, and for our fans, the can combine all the fantastic attractions, like the Great Barrier Reef, with AFL, in one hit.

“Given the match is played during school holidays in Victoria, it’s a great opportunity to support the team and get away from winter.”

Grigg, is enjoying his best season of AFL football.  He is averaging 26.5 disposals and six marks per match and is ranked sixth in the entire competition for total disposals (second at Richmond), with 318.

The 24-year-old is also ranked sixth in the competition for total inside-50 entries, with 58.
