THE AFL has finalised plans for Tuesday's Brownlow Medal ceremony, with Trent Cotchin to receive his medal shortly before Sam Mitchell in a 45-minute presentation.

The retrospective awarding of the 2012 Brownlow Medal, after original winner Jobe Watson relinquished his title in the wake of his doping ban, will be held in Melbourne's Docklands, beginning at 12.15pm.

It will begin with a highlights package of Trent Cotchin's 2012 season, before his achievement is toasted by AFL chairman Mike Fitzpatrick.

As previously announced, Cotchin's medal will be presented by Richmond's 1971 medallist Ian Stewart.

Following a question and answer session with Cotchin and a speech, Mitchell's 2012 highlights package will be played.

Fitzpatrick will toast the former Hawthorn star's 2012 season and 1999 medallist Shane Crawford will be called on to present the West Coast recruit with his medal.

Both players will front the media at 1pm, with full coverage on richmondfc.com.au
