For the first time in 12 years the season has not come to an end in September as we gear up for the finals. We play Carlton in the first week of the finals, our old rivals, which promises to be close to a sell-out. For those lucky enough to be in a position to go to the game the atmosphere will be electric.

Unfortunately there are many fans who will miss out and this blog is aimed at the people who have to work or are interstate or both who can’t be there.

There is a cynical undertone here as usually we don’t prepare for this time of the year but as it has come to fruition I can’t go. However, this season I’ve been living my passion vicariously through twitter and other fans that have been at the games and in the atmosphere. This week I hope to do the same thing.

There is a satisfying smile that comes across my face when I see photos and hear stories from fans at the game. This week more importantly I am looking forward to seeing photos and hearing peoples thoughts throughout the game.

It gives me a certain comradery to my fellow Tiger supporters and still makes feel a part of the game watching from afar.

I will probably be alone watching the game because my wife will most likely go out, to avoid me shouting at the TV, cheering the boys on from home. I’ll be wearing my game day Guernsey and as much yellow and black as I can muster.

The atmosphere will be coming from a combination of the game, the beer and my fellow tiger supporters on Twitter.

So I am making one simple request to everyone on twitter to take selfies at the game in your yellow and black and put them on twitter and tag me @BenDepedro so my followers and I can share the atmosphere and stories that you all will have on game day. Please feel free to tell any story from the food at the ground to game play or even how the Auskick kids are playing at half time (do they still do that at finals time? I can’t remember).

There are fans all over this great land of ours who won’t get to go the game but in this digital age of social media we don’t have to miss out. For those that aren’t following on twitter feel free to follow and hopefully we will get to see snippets from the crowd that can only be seen at the game.

For those of you lucky enough to be at the game enjoy. I’m confident we’ll make it to the second round of the finals but I look forward to seeing what stories you have to tell and photos from the game and as always #gotiges.
