Richmond has confirmed its interest in Essendon’s skilful speedster Jason Winderlich.

While the Tigers have all but ruled out the possibility of recruiting North Melbourne’s Levi Greenwood, they have made enquiries about the Bombers’ veteran of 128 league games.

“It probably won’t go anywhere with Levi, but Jason, there’s certainly some interest there,” Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson, told host Nathan Brown for the Bingle Recruitment Zone.

“He fills a need that we have for some pace, and we think he can provide that for us.

“But there’s a bit of water to go under the bridge, as there always is.

“We were hopeful, perhaps, of him being able to be acquired as a free agent, but it looks like he’s contracted to Essendon by way of an option clause.  We’ll work our way through that over the coming days.

“Ultimately, with an option clause like that, it would require Essendon, or the club in question, to release the player.

“That looks unlikely to happen at this stage.  The other option is a trade, but that’s probably not an avenue we’re keen to go down the path of at this point.”
