Richmond defender Steven Morris has been charged by the AFL’s Match Review Panel for two separate incidents during Saturday’s Round 15 match against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.

Each charge was for rough conduct in the opening quarter – the first against St Kilda defender Sean Dempster, and the second against the Saints’ midfielder Jack Steven.

With an early guilty plea, each charge amounts to less than 100 points, but under AFL tribunal guidelines, points are added together for matches where more than one charge is laid against the same player.

As a result, if Morris pleads guilty to both offences, he would miss this Saturday’s game against Brisbane, despite neither offence warranting a suspension on its own.

Each charge was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points), resulting in a classification of a Level One Offence, drawing 125 demerit points.

Morris has no existing good or bad record, reducing each sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record.

Richmond has until tomorrow morning to decide whether to appeal either, or both charges, at the AFL tribunal.
