AFL Fantasy

It was a tough AFL Fantasy round across the board this week, with 2000 points generally considered to be a pretty good score. So I’m not beating myself up too much for my effort of 1907.

I was a bit unlucky with some of my players – Alex Fasolo managed only 19 points before he was subbed off, while some of my guns really didn’t rack up the big scores either. Tom Rockliff (76), Pearce Hanley (76) (though admittedly in his first game back), Nick Riewoldt (59), and Justin Westhoff (50) were all well below average.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been trying to make sure to keep my head afloat over the byes, which I’m not sure will happen to be honest – I might have to sit back and hope that everyone else will have a few donuts as well. I’ve spoken to a few people, and they say that copping some zeroes during the bye weeks isn’t the worst strategy, so we’ll see how it goes.

We’ve had a few new joiners in the Richmond fan league this week (welcome to you all), but I think they must all be pretty good because I’ve dropped ten ranking points! Holding onto his position at the top of the leaderboard is Stephen L and “Massive Scorgasm”, with Brad D and “Dumminators” hot on his heels.

Superboot

It was a dark, dark week for me in Superboot.

After selecting Travis Cloke to stand up in the Anzac Day match against Essendon, I have plummeted to 125th in the rankings after big Travis failed to kick a single goal. I don’t know if I can make it back from here, to be honest.

The good news for people like me is that there are monthly prizes to collect as well. So even if you’ve been utterly hopeless, or if you haven’t joined up yet, you could put in a stellar performance in May and score yourself an iPad, cash, or some great footy tickets. I think that might have to be my goal from now on.

With thirteen goals between myself and the leader (L Wilson), I think it’s time to get a bit left-field. No point in picking these safe centre-half forwards anymore. Mark LeCras, Devon Smith, Jamie Elliot and Patrick Dangerfield have all been leading goalkickers for their teams at some point this season, and I don’t think many would have picked them. So I just need to pick the next one… time to put the thinking cap on. Suggestions are welcome – send me a tweet!

Make sure you jump on board so you’re in the running for the next monthly prize – click here.

Good luck for Round 7!
