Jake King is renowned and respected for the robust way he goes about his football.  So, when he pinpoints similar attributes in a developing Richmond player, you sit up and take notice.

The spirited Tiger veteran has given his seal of approval to young key defender Ben Darrou, who has made strong progress at VFL level with the Club throughout this season.

“I love watching ‘Bender’ play down there,” King told ‘Roar Vision’.

“He’s the most polite kid I’ve ever met, but on the field, he’s probably one of the nastiest kids you’ll ever come across.

“He fires up, and he’s been really good.”

Darrou, 190cm and 97kg, is in his third season with the Tigers as a rookie-list player.  He has consistently earned praise throughout the year from Richmond’s VFL coach Tim Clarke for his ability to lock down on opponents, but also provide good rebound out of the team’s defensive 50.

The 20-year-old also possesses impressive decision-making ability, is courageous, and an efficient kick.
