Richmond midfielder Chris Knights has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2013 season with a patella tendon injury.

Knights had surgery today to repair his right knee, an injury he sustained during the second quarter of Saturday’s win over Port Adelaide.

Shane Tuck is also set for a period on the sidelines, with the hard-nosed midfielder set to miss the next 6-8 weeks with a fractured scapula.

Tuck sustained the injury in the third quarter of the game against the Power, and returned to complete the rest of the match.  He will have surgery tomorrow.

Knights had been in excellent form for the Tigers, since breaking into the senior team in Round 3.

In his four appearances before the game against the Power, the 26-year-old averaged 19.5 disposals and kicked five goals.

“It’s realty disappointing for Chris.  He’s been a great addition to the team since arriving at the Club late last year, and he’ll be missed on the field,” said Richmond General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson.

“I’m sure the players will get right behind him and help him through his rehab, and we’re looking forward to having him back next season.”

Tuck had also enjoyed a strong start to the season, averaging 21 disposals in the first four rounds before being rested.

“Shane is a much-loved figure at the football club, and his courage cannot be questioned,” Richardson said.

“We expect him to have a big impact in the senior team in the second half of the season.”

The Tigers will regain Ty Vickery from concussion for Sunday’s match against Melbourne, while Trent Cotchin, Dylan Grimes and Ricky Petterd will be assessed throughout the week.
