Jack Ross

Leadership group member Jack Ross has declared Richmond is determined to rectify its mistakes and respond strongly in Perth this weekend, after Saturday's defeat to the Gold Coast Suns.

The 25-year-old took positives from the promising signs shown by youngsters Seth Campbell and Sam Lalor, who both scored goals when key forward Tom Lynch was ruled out mid-game with a hamstring injury.

“I mean, we're young, there's no hiding that, but the talent that we have in the forward half is incredible,” Ross said.

“I think we'll learn a lot from it, even the one-on-one matchups. I think a lot of the boys will learn from it, and we'll look forward to (this Saturday vs Fremantle).

“We generally travel pretty well. Regrouping this week and really looking forward to getting out there a little bit earlier as well."

Ross was a major contributor over the weekend, recording 24 disposals, five clearances, and 247 meters gained.

The Tigers will take confidence from the midfield's output, after winning the clearance battle 38-27. Ross was impressed with his group of on-ballers and their ability to compete with a fast-running Gold Coast outfit.

“We put a big emphasis on it. They're obviously a great contest team, they got great midfielders and a great ruck rotation as well,” Ross said.

“We knew that if we could match them in there and get the ball going our way, that we'd have a good look forward and we can use our speed forward of the footy.

“Our effort and intent were there, which I feel like it always is. It's just a matter of staying switched on and executing the system over and over for a longer period of time.

“I think it's a good growth from last week.”

Richmond will travel to Perth for its first interstate trip of the season, to take on Fremantle this Saturday at Optus Stadium from 4:15pm AEDT.
