A powerful best-on-ground performance from Richmond’s superstar midfielder Dustin Martin against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium last Saturday night has rocketed him into the lead in AFL.com.au’s Brownlow Medal predictor at the midway mark of season 2017.

The Brownlow predictor has Martin in first place with 17 votes, one ahead of Greater Western Sydney young gun Josh Kelly on 16 votes, followed by Geelong captain Joel Selwood and Adelaide star Rory Sloane, who are equal third with 15 votes.

Martin has now polled eight votes from his last three games, according to the predictor.

He’s been awarded the maximum three votes in a match four times, two votes twice and one vote once.

The reigning Jack Dyer Medallist finished third in last year’s Brownlow Medal with 25 votes (24 in the final 15 rounds) and was seventh in 2015 with 21 votes.
