Richmond co-captain Toby Nankervis will run out in his 100th AFL game this Sunday afternoon when the Tigers take on GWS at the MCG.

The 27-year-old ruckman kicked off his AFL career at Sydney, after being taken in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft with pick No. 35.

He then played 12 games at the Swans before crossing over to Tigerland in 2016, where he notched the next 87 of his 99 AFL matches in the Yellow and Black.

With three Richmond premierships to his name, the 199cm Tasmanian has been a revelation since arriving at the Club.

Renowned as a selfless teammate who brings out the best in his playing peers, he's proven to be a vital contributor for the Tigers.

After overcoming a number of injury concerns in 2020, Nankervis played a crucial role in Richmond's 2020 Grand Final win, amassing the most pressure acts on the ground.

Speaking to the media following his recent appointment as the Club's 42nd VFL/AFL captain, Nankervis said his overarching focus throughout his career had been to "strive to be a good teammate".

"Being able to play at such a great footy club the last five years has fuelled me with a lot of confidence," he said.

"I've played under a lot of great leaders and been involved in some pretty good footy sides over my career now.

"I pride myself on building great relationships with my teammates and staff... I just try to be me."
