Dual premiership wingman Marlion Pickett has signed on for a fifth season at Richmond.

The 30-year-old put pen to paper on a new deal for 2023 this week, following a season of excellent form.

Pickett has averaged a career-high 16 disposals and six marks across 17 matches this season, impressing with his balanced inside and outside game, foot skills, and ability to impact in the air. The West Australian ranks in the top 10 at Richmond for marks, tackles, inside 50s and metres Gained across 2022.

Recruited to the Club in the 2019 mid-season draft with a finger injury, Pickett recovered in time to burst onto the scene at VFL level.

The mature-aged selection famously won the Norm Goss Medal for a best-on-ground performance in a VFL premiership before being selected to make his debut in the AFL Grand Final a week later.

Pickett polled Norm Smith Medal votes for his eye-catching game in that match and has since added another 54 senior appearances as a regular senior player.

The proud Noongar man has also flourished as a leader among the Club’s Indigenous players and through Richmond’s Korin Gamadji Institute, where he is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth ambassador.

Richmond General Manager- Football Talent, Blair Hartley, said Pickett had thoroughly deserved his contract extension.
