Richmond’s two prized, mature-age, midfield recruits via last month’s trade period, Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper, will wear guernsey numbers 14 and 22 respectively in their playing careers at Tigerland.

Taranto had the No. 14 during his six-year stint with Greater Western Sydney, while Hopper wore No. 2 at the Giants across seven seasons.

The No. 14 and No. 22 have proven to be highly-successful numbers at Richmond for players recruited from rival AFL clubs.

Bachar Houli, the previous owner of the Tigers’ No. 14 guernsey, played a pivotal role in three premierships with the Club as a rebounding defender after crossing over from Essendon.

Josh Caddy, recruited by Richmond from Geelong, was a valuable contributor in two premierships for the Tigers, wearing the No. 22 guernsey.

And, throughout the 1980s, Barry Rowlings starred in the No. 22 with Richmond following his recruitment from Hawthorn. He was a key member of the Tigers team that crushed Collingwood in the 1980 Grand Final.
