The 2023 AFLW fixture has landed.

The Tigers will kick off their fifth season in the AFLW competition against Brisbane at Brighton Homes Arena on Sunday, September 3.

The clash in Queensland will be the first of three interstate matches for Richmond, with trips to Blacktown to face GWS (Round 3) and Cairns to face Hawthorn (Round 8) also on the agenda.

The Tigers' opening home game of the 10-round season will be in Round 2 against Adelaide on Friday, September 9.

Richmond will play its home games in 2023 at Ikon Park due to the Punt Road Oval redevelopment.

The second-round meeting will be the first of four clashes in a row at Ikon Park, including Round 5 v Fremantle on the Grand Final Eve Public Holiday (Friday, September 29), and the annual Dreamtime game with Essendon in Round 7 (Saturday, October 14).

The Tigers will face Collingwood at Victoria Park in the final round of the home and away season, Pride Round, with the date and time to be confirmed closer to the weekend.

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said that fixturing home games at Ikon Park provided more certainty for the fixture.

“With the development of Punt Road Oval potentially commencing later this year, we needed to consider alternative venues for AFLW home games,” he said.

“Given this, we have decided Ikon Park would be the best venue to host our home matches for the 2023 AFLW season.

“The players have played good football there in the past and enjoy the venue, which is also importantly accessible for our fans.

“We hope the Tiger Army can make Ikon Park a home away from home for us.”

Gale added that the Club would investigate the possibility of relocating some, or a game, back to the Swinburne Centre if there was a change to the commencement date of the Punt Road Oval construction.
