Richmond’s VWFL sides are off to hot starts in 2025, with the Championship Division team on top of the ladder with three wins from three games, while the Community Division side is second on two wins and one defeat.

Richmond Sustainability and Inclusion Lead, Gabrielle McKeown, said that the connection amongst the group is starting to shine through.

“The team has had a really good pre-season, they have put in the work and it's showing on the field,” McKeown said.

“The connection between the team is strong, and the group is gelling well.”

VWFL Round 1 Results

Championship Division: Richmond defeated Hawthorn 14.7 (91) to 5.5 (35)

Community Division: Richmond defeated Hawthorn 16.11 (107) to 1.2 (8)

Round 1 saw a dominant display from the Championship Division reigning premiers, defeating Hawthorn in what was a Grand Final re-match by 56 points.

Similarly, in the Community Division, Richmond proved too strong for the Hawks, beating them 107 to 8.

Stand-out performances from the Round 1 clash earned several Tigers a spot on the VWFL Team of the Week, including Teisha Shadwell (centre), Angelo Mavroudis (forward), Chris Kotsanas (interchange), John Secombe (forward), Bryant Parsons (interchange) and Miranda Charlton (interchange).

VWFL Round 2 Results

Championship Division: Richmond defeated St Kilda 22.6 (138) to 9.6 (60)

Community Division: Richmond defeated St Kilda 8.7 (55) to 3.5 (23)

Continuing their fine form into Round 2, both the Championship and Community Division sides took home strong wins against St Kilda.

The Championship Division team dominated once again with a 78-point win, while the Community side won by 32 points in another double-header victory from the Tigers.

Another strong week saw an abundance of Tigers selected in the VWFL Team of the Week, including James Weinert (defence), Chris Kotsanas (forward), Angelo Mavroudis (interchange), Bryant Parsons (interchange), and Mark Titford (interchange).

VWFL Round 3 Results

Championship Division: Richmond defeated Collingwood 17.9 (111) to 9.5 (59)

Community Division: Collingwood defeated Richmond 5.9 (39) to 5.7 (37)

Round 3 saw another strong display from the Tigers, with Richmond’s Championship Division side handing an inform Collingwood its first loss of the season, after a strong 52-point win.

However, the Community Division Tigers suffered a nail-biting loss, missing a goal after the siren to go down to the Magpies by just two points.
