Seth Campbell has become the youngest player to win Richmond’s leading goalkicker award in a season for three decades.
The exciting forward clinched the 2025 Michael Roach Medal with two goals in the final home-and-away round match against Geelong at the MCG, at 20 years and 237 days of age.
That took his overall season’s tally to 28, which was two ahead of veteran star key forward Tom Lynch, who scored 26 goals, with Rhyan Mansell in third place on 18 goals.
You have to go all the way back to 1994 to find a player younger than Campbell to capture the Club’s leading goalkicker award – Tigers great Matthew Richardson, aged 19 years, 168 days, who finished with 56 goals that season.
Richmond coach Adem Yze acclaimed Campbell in his post-match media conference.
“Seth Campbell’s season was outstanding,” Yze said.
“He’s backed that up. That’s two years in-a-row now (he won the Club’s best first year player award in 2024).
“He’s going to be a huge part of our future.”
The youngest winner of Richmond’s leading goalkicking award in its League football history was Mick Maguire, who was just 16 years and 89 days of age when he finished with 20 goals in his 1910 debut season at the Club.
