Jack Ross

Fresh off his two-year contract extension, midfielder Jack Ross has taken positives from how quickly Richmond has progressed this pre-season, lauding his teammates' quick learning and development.

“I feel like, if you were to ask any team, they'd say they're flying, but I think we're head and shoulders above where we were this time last year,” Ross told Richmond Media.

“All the young guys that we've got coming into the Club, they're really fast learners, and they ask questions, and they want to get to games as quick as anyone.

“I think we're in a really good place. The guys are pretty toey to get to practice games and I’m looking forward to it.”

Ross has extended his contract until the end of 2028, seeing him run out for at least another three seasons in the yellow and black.

The midfielder enjoyed a standout 2025 season, playing in all 23 games for the first time in his career and averaging 19 disposals, 3.8 tackles, and three clearances.

“I have got a good grasp of the player that I am now and where I want to get to, and I am really confident in that," Ross said.

“Playing consistent games definitely helps with that, but I think age as well. Now I am considered (an) older member of the group with so much youth coming through.

“I think the leadership stuff has kind of come naturally and it has helped me progress as a player which has been nice.”

The 25-year-old was grateful for the Club’s backing and admitted how excited he is to see what the future holds at the Swinburne Centre.

“I'm wrapped. After doing it (signing on), I was sitting there thinking about it, I never would have thought I'd be playing AFL for this long," Ross said.

“I'm really proud of it, and I'm really proud to still be here at such a great club, so I couldn't have jumped at the offer any quicker, and I’m wrapped that it's done.

“The way that the team and the Club is progressing with the whole redevelopment and almost the redevelopment of our list, is exciting.

“I couldn't be keener to be a part of that moving forward.”
